What happens when a team deliberately steps back from day-to-day work to look at the future together?
During an offsite, the management team and engineering managers of Reconneqt got to work with the DEaLflow® Method. The focus was on collaboration, individual behavioural preferences and the challenges the organisation faces together.
The challenge at the centre
An offsite creates room to step out of the daily rhythm and take a fresh look at the shared challenge. What does Reconneqt's development ask of the team? What movement is needed to take the organisation forward?
The DEaLflow® Method helps to look not only at what people do, but also at what motivates them, how they develop and what the situation asks of them. That way, the conversation does not start with the people themselves, but with the context in which they work together.
From individual movement to team dynamics
Using the DEaLflow analyses, individual behavioural preferences were made visible and open to discussion. Not to put people into profiles, colours or boxes, but to gain insight into the different ways in which people look at situations and get moving.
Differences between people are not a problem to be solved. In fact, they can be valuable for collaboration and development. Different behavioural preferences and perspectives show how people look at a shared challenge in different ways. It is precisely that combination that makes a team agile.
Looking, moving and choosing together
The participants worked with a shared team overview and interactive formats. Questions at the centre included:

This is how the line of the method emerged naturally. First the context: where do we stand and what does the challenge call for? Then looking from different perspectives, and seeing which movement we actually make. What does that movement do to our energy? And which direction do we choose together? Context, looking, moving, energy and choosing. Not as theory, but as a conversation around the table.
Energy in motion
The combination of personal insights, the shared team overview and active formats got the conversations about collaboration and development going. Differences could be explored, new possibilities came into view and the conversation turned towards the choices ahead.
The special surroundings also added to the setting. A step away from daily practice, around the fire, to explore together what is needed for the next step.

From insight to action
Insight alone does not move a team forward. The value comes when people share that insight with each other, make use of their differences and consciously choose together which movement the challenge calls for.
People aren't profiles. People are always in motion.
We would like to thank Reconneqt for the trust and openness with which the team approached this offsite.
